Some of you are starting to finish Identified: The Maya Price Story.
And I am starting to panic a little bit.
Well, I have had this question thrown my way a lot lately: “When is the next book coming out?”
Alright, alright, I admit it: I have not finished it yet. However, I promise, PROMISE, that I am working on it.
For those of you who have finished Identified you know that the first chapter of Burdened: The Maya Price Story is included at the end. To keep you interested, I am including a small excerpt from Chapter 2 of Book 2 right….here!
(*Spoiler alert*: Although this excerpt does not give too much away, you may not want to read it if you have not finished Identified.)
From Chapter 2 of Burdened: The Maya Price Story
The guards tossed her like a rag doll into the arena, causing her to land on her knees. When Maya looked up, she saw her opponent standing on the other side of the arena. The woman was tiny, and seemed to be very calm. Her hands were clasped in front of her as she watched, patiently. Most who fought Maya usually attacked her the minute she entered the ring, anxious to get in the first strike. But this girl just stood there, watching.
At first Maya didn’t recognize her. The girl she had known was skinnier, and had always stood hunched over. Now, there were hard muscles on her tiny arms and she stood tall, as if she had finally discovered confidence. Her hair was no longer stringy, but had been chopped off to chin length and it shone on the sunlight that had started to peek through the clouds.
She was waiting for Maya to make the first move.
Anxiety and anger finally started to build inside Maya and, as she walked toward her opponent, very small explosions of earth, like tiny land mines, followed her footsteps.
When Maya finally reached her, the girl smiled. “It’s good to see you,” she said.
“Paige,” Maya said, uttering a name she hadn’t said in months. “What are you doing here?”
Ahhh, very mysterious and tricksy, you might say. More to come soon!
